Last year, I completed a half marathon and successfully raised £500 to support struggling families with children by helping them buy toys and school uniforms. This year, I am aiming to raise even more to continue supporting families in need.

What inspires me to do this comes from my own personal experience. As a migrant living in the UK, I have gone through very difficult times without extended family support or access to public funds. During those challenging moments, there was no one there to support me and my family. I promised myself that whenever I had the opportunity to help others, I would do so.

That is why I am proud to support BME Support Group CIC. They provide vital help to migrant and minority families, including culturally appropriate food that is often expensive and difficult to find in the UK. Many food banks do not supply African or Caribbean food, yet these are essential foods for many families and communities. Supporting this organisation means helping families feel seen, supported, and cared for during difficult times.

This marathon will take place on my birthday — 27.09.2026 — and I cannot think of a better birthday gift than helping families who are struggling. Instead of gifts for myself, I would be truly grateful for your support and donations towards this cause. Every contribution, big or small, will make a real difference in the lives of families who need support the most.
